Sunburst Environmental Services provides snow removal services to businesses, condominium associations and select residences requiring season long maintenance. Generally speaking we provide snow removal services only if we have a lawn maintenance relationship with the client.
Due to the nature of snow removal and the high costs of equipment and labor we perform services on a seasonal basis. On smaller properties that wish to contract on a per visit basis we generally require some sort of retainer to cover substantial equipment costs offset by work performed or it must be easily serviced in conjunction with a larger property.
At present we operate 7 trucks with plows, 3 skid loaders (Bobcat) and a ground crew between 15-18 individuals. Much of this equipment is strictly used for snow removal and costs of this equipment should not be underestimated. Repair and replacement costs due to wear and tear is also very costly. Reliability of labor during often very poor weather conditions is obtained only through proper financial incentive.
Costs associated with snow removal are based upon time needed for completion, the amount of equipment provided and the number of individuals needed to perform the work. We focus on the reality that large snow storms occur and to address these weather events properly we do not over book our services.
Although we are capable of doing a large amount of snow removal some properties are potentially very problematic. These properties include properties which seek to have services provided at an extremely low cost but with high expectations, very large properties which take in excess of 8 individuals to complete in a reasonable amount of time, properties which require the exclusive use of more than 2 pieces of large equipment, condominiums with detached garages and extensive internal walkways, properties that require excessive follow-ups due to blowing snow from roofs and melting snow which creates a consistent ice problem not generally found at other properties. If any of these factors occur we would prefer to decline snow removal services to not damage our relationship with the client and our reputation.
